Did you know that a pack of conventional period pads contains the same amount of plastic as up to around 5 plastic bags?
When you think about how much effort we are putting in to reducing this number, it seems crazy to continue using another product which contains so much plastic and in such intimate contact with your body. Period pants are brilliant and definitely worth trying, but sometimes pads are easier and more convenient, so make sure they are plastic free!
Luckily Natracare make biodegradable menstrual products, using natural breathable materials and 100% certified organic cotton to protects our oceans, soil and cotton workers.
12 super ultra pads – thin with wings for medium flow
This pack contains 12 x natural slim fitting natural pads with wings. They are ultra absorbent and suitable for medium or lighter menstrual flow.
They are super soft on your skin and there are no perfumes or chlorine (unlike conventional pads which are made from synthetic materials, dyes, and even perfume). These come individually wrapped so are easily carried around when you are out and about.

*Natracare never use chemically processed pulp (such as rayon aka viscose) or synthetic materials in our pads. Instead, they use fluffed wood pulp in the absorbent core of the pads. The pulp is sustainably sourced from fast growing, Scandinavian pine trees (which is very absorbent!) and mechanically process the wood to make it soft and fluffy.
This fibre structure is more absorbent than using cotton alone. Pulp is natural, renewable, and more sustainable alternative than the use of superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) found in most conventional pads.
12 x Super Ultra Period Pads (medium) - Natracare
Super simple- to be honest I don't think you'll notice much difference! The price is good, the product works in exactly the same way and it just feels a bit more natural and less plasticy so they are probably more comfortable!
Unwrap pad. Remove the central paper strip and press the sticky side into your underwear. Then peel the paper off the wings, and fold around the sides of the gusset and press underneath. This helps hold the pad in place whilst being used.
The pads are home compostable. This means that if you have a compost bin at home, you can dispose of them in there. They’re considered brown compost, and it's recommend breaking up the pad using scissors before adding to your compost.
If you don’t have a compost bin at home, your pads can be disposed of in your regular bin using, ideally, a biodegradable bin liner.
