This is one of only a couple of products which I stock which isn't plastic free BUT there are lots of reasons I've chosen to stock this it.

This Bio D Laundry Bleach is an eco-friendly, whitening wonder. It's oxygen-based and works as an antibacterial and sanitising in-wash whitener, odour and stain remover. It keeps whites light and colours bright.

Due to the fact that the product is oxygen actvated, the packaging has to be protective. Paper and cardboard are too porous and causes the product to start reacting if there is any moisture. To prevent this, the  laundry bleach comes with a plastic inner bag to protect it during transit. At the moment Bio D don't have another suitable option available, however they are constantly reviewing the impact of their packaging on the environment and the product itself is so much better for the environment than a lot of commercial alternatives.

The reasons I chose to stock it, despite the plastic, are because it's

  • vegan
  • cruelty free
  • biodegradable
  • competitive price makes it very accessible to all
  • made in the UK
  • hypoallergenic and an allergy friendly product (Ethical Consumer Best Buy, Allergy UK)
  • free from Chlorine, optical brighteners, synthetic perfumes or phosphates
  • it's also suitable for Septic Tanks

Bio D focus on making effective, natural and safe cleaning products which are environmentally responsible and have minimal impact. They source there ingredients ethically and their bottled products are made from 100% recyclable packaging.

Packaging for this product is made from cardboard & LDPE (Low-density polyethylene) inner.  This is the same plastic used for plastic bags, dispensing bottles, wash bottles so check your local authority guidelines in regards to recycling.
